(Las Vegas, NV) – The California law student who admitted to ripping off the head of an exotic bird.
As part of a plea deal, 24-year-old Justin Teixeira will serve six months in boot camp, and he will have a misdemeanor on his record. He could have be sentenced to prison, county jail time, probation or other punishments.
Prosecutors say a helmeted guinea fowl named Turk was beheaded at the Flamingo hotel last October.
Teixeira was originally charged with felony animal torture and killing another person’s animal in the October 2012 incident.
Two of his University of California, Berkley classmates have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges.
