SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — A man accused of hoarding about 60 live pets in his Sparks home is facing four counts of animal cruelty.
Washoe County Animal Services director Barry Brode says neighbors reported smelling something dead at a home on Merchant Street on Wednesday morning.
Sparks police responded, and officials say they found at least 45 rabbits, eight cats and six dogs at Ronnie Bandoni’s home. KOLO-TV reports another 20 rabbits were found dead.
The surviving animals were taken to be checked out by a veterinarian.
KOLO says the 63-year-old Bandoni was taken into custody and held on $40,000 bail.
